Other Holistic Therapies
Ranch Creek Recovery is a holistic addiction treatment center that specializes in experiential and holistic therapy as an option to treat substance abuse. This is no gimmick; countless families have already been helped by the experiential approach to recovery.
Some people may dismiss the holistic approach because it’s not “science-based.” However, this is a bit of holdover thinking from days gone by. In the past 15 years, dozens of scientific studies have proven that holistic or alternative drug addiction therapy is about as effective as traditional 12-step programs and medical solutions.

What Is Holistic?
Holistic or holism is derived from the Greek root work holos, which means “entire” or “whole.” The idea is we are a sum of all our parts, or in one word–interconnected. It makes sense, of course when someone has a headache, they normally become irritable or quick to anger. How can pain alter your very mood or perception? Simple. Physical pain, the body, and emotional state, the mind, are interconnected.
At Ranch Creek’s holistic addiction recovery center, we don’t just treat the condition, we help the individuals become better versions of themselves by exploring the needs of the whole person.
Myths About Holistic Addiction Treatment
Holistic drug and alcohol rehab is only for the religious – Religion has nothing to do with it. In fact, when you look at our methods, nowhere will you see anything close to cramming religion into the sessions. But we certainly don’t hold it against our guests who have a close relationship with their faith. We encourage it if that’s their motivation to get better.
Non-traditional rehab doesn’t work with hard drugs — The myth about alternative rehab failing to treat addiction to heroin or cocaine continues on, even if there’s no basis for this claim. In fact, here at Ranch Creek, we have specialized programs for cocaine, opiate and prescription drug addiction.
Only a few people opt for holistic treatment – This is not true. In fact, 1 in 3 patients in the US is going for a non-traditional method to treat their alcohol and drug addiction. There’s no mystery to what we do. It’s backed by years of research and experience of success.
Holistic vs Traditional Drug and Alcohol Rehab
While both the holistic and traditional facilities are effective in helping people kick the habit, they differ greatly in the philosophy. We believe there are more options other than psychotherapy and medication in treating drug or alcohol addiction.
Basically, traditional drug addiction treatment centers tend to operate under the same school of thought—that the 12-step program is the way toward recovery. In a sense, it’s a more rigid and limited approach, although it has helped millions.
But what if you have more options?
What if you are not comfortable with just “working the 12 steps” and talking to a counselor offered by other traditional drug addiction treatment centers?
That’s where we come in.
Aside from traditional talk therapy, at Ranch Creek, you have the option to try:
- Garden therapy
- Yoga and meditation
- Equine assisted therapy
- Exercise programs
- Gong sound therapy
- Amino acid therapy
We’ll work closely with each patient to address his or her mental, physical and spiritual needs. We help you get in touch with your inner self, and to grow both as a recovering addict and as a person.
As you can see, the holistic treatment differs from the 12-step programs offered by traditional drug addiction treatment centers. Call today to find out more.
