Drug & Alcohol Addiction Treatment
A survey by the National Survey on Drug Abuse and Health in 2014 revealed that over 21 million Americans age 12 and above have used and abused drugs. Do you know how many people actually sought drug and alcohol treatment? Only 2.5 million. Among the main reasons for refusing treatment, in addition to financial burden and unwillingness on the part of the patient, there is the perceived stigma of being “an addict.”
Thankfully Ranch Creek and other forward-thinking drug and alcohol rehab centers are leading the charge toward non-judgemental treatment using both established modalities and holistic, alternative methods. First, let’s examine the roots of drug addiction.

Factors That Can Lead To Substance Abuse
Before anything else, it’s important to note the number or risk-factors that can make one a possible candidate for drug and alcohol addiction:
It’s hard when the problem is cellular. Unfortunately, some people are hard-wired to more prone to alcoholism or drug abuse. Adult children of parents who suffer addiction have been proven time and again to have higher rates of drug abuse and addiction.
Mental Health Disorders
A co-occurring disorder to an addiction, such as depression anxiety, or PTSD can often lead to self-medication in the form of alcohol or other drugs. As these conditions progress, self-medication becomes more frequent and addiction becomes more likely.
A person raised in a household where the role models are addicts would be more prone to using drugs in the future. Peer pressure is also a major contributing factor on why people become addicts.
Drug and Alcohol Treatment Programs
Here at Ranch Creek, we mix our programs with traditional and holistic or alternative. While the 12-step program as a form of treatment is the more widely recognized approach, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the most effective. In fact, nobody can say that one’s method is the best precisely because the mind is very complicated.
In fact, it’s more accurate to say that personalized approach—regardless of the treatment method—has been found to have the most positive impact on recovery.
Our luxurious environment in the hills of Southern California complements our programs. This is no cookie-cutter approach where every step is preplanned for every patient regardless of his or her individual needs. There is a schedule, yes, but each of our guests is carefully evaluated to see which of the programs they respond to the best.
How are we able to do that?
Small Doesn’t Mean Less
One of our advantages is that we are quite small (only six beds) compared to the other drug and alcohol rehab facilities. But it doesn’t mean our services our inferior. Quite the opposite, in fact, since we are able to focus more on our guests compared to some centers with 50 to 100 patients or more.
In terms of the facility, we invested so much in terms of the aesthetics and architectural design of our property. This is to ensure that our guests won’t feel like they are in a center. The grounds, including our pools, well-appointed rooms, and the horse range accelerate the recovery process by making people more relaxed and more open.
Harmony Between Body and Mind
There’s nothing here that exists in a vacuum. Every detail you see is has been selected with comfort and recovery in mind. They contribute to the overall well-being of our guests. The same goes for our staff and treatment programs. We don’t just arbitrarily choose a treatment program for a particular patient. Each of our methods is backed by years of research and real-world implementation.
But our approach to drug and alcohol rehab is even more rooted in how a person’s whole is greater than the sum of its parts. For this reason, we incorporate massage therapy, equine therapy, yoga, outdoor exercise and more into the psychotherapeutic and medical programs we’ve designed to defeat addiction. When there’s no harmony between our mind and body, it creates an imbalance and that can manifest in multiple ways.
What We Offer
Our drug and alcohol treatment programs put more importance to improving self-worth, addressing the root cause of the problem and giving our guests the necessary tools and skills to survive and thrive when they leave our facility. In light of these, you can expect to encounter these alternative treatments here:
- Equestrian therapy
- Gong sound healing
- Cognitive behavior therapy
- Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
- Amino acid therapy
The last two methods may seem unfamiliar to you but they have been around for a long time. DBT is specifically designed for patients who are a danger to themselves and to others. This means they have exhibited self-harm behaviors or violent tendencies. This is another form of cognitive behavior therapy. In terms of the amino acid therapy, it’s basically triggering serotonin (which is basically an antidepressant) production in our brains through supplements. Insufficient serotonin can deplete the production of neurotransmitters, which in turn will lead to anemia, memory loss, anxiety, depression, and addictive disorders.
Our treatment programs are specially designed to tailor-fit to each individual’s requirements. Call us now and we can help you decide whether you can opt for 30-day, 60-day, and 90-day residential treatment.
